Positive: This was an extremely cosy, well-equipped cottage. My kids loved it and it’s likely we’ll be back. It’s a little bit well-worn, but this made us feel at home and comfortable. There is sea view of Dunnet Head which was an unexpected pleasant surprise! We came to Dunnet to surf and it’s perfectly located for the beach. The hosts are lovely which is also a big plus.

Negative: The mattress on the sofa bed probably needs replacing.

Summary: Delightful, cosy and perfectly located.

Positive: The cottage is cosy and very warm and the setting is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by sheep and geese. But it's still very handy for the north coast. The beds (including the sofa-bed) were very comfortable. Dunnet beach is beautiful - I don't think it has many facilities, but that's not what we were looking for, it is wild and stunnning! (I think you can surf there, though, and there are toilets). It's a self-catering cottage, I would suggest shopping in the big Co-op in Thurso. The host gave us very clear instructions to find our way along the winding lanes!

Negative: The first night we were there we'd brough food to heat up in the oven, but it really wasn't clean - everything else (saucepans etc) was spotlessly clean though, so I suggest you bring food to cook on top of the stove, which worked very well.

Positive: Cottage was situated in the countryside in a lovely quiet location approximately 20 minutes drive from Wick or Thurso. Lots of wildlife around the place which we enjoyed watching. Indian Runner ducks were so cute. Hope to return possibly later this year. It was also lovely to have a chat with our host Alex.

Negative: Nothing not to like.
